p. ?
Sally Ann Avis to Anthony Brown.
Bond:  7/24/1848
Signed bond:  Basil Avis
Married by:  J. Bemis, 7/25/1848

Mary Avis (Aud) to Marshall Davidson
Bond:  1/28/1833
Signed bond:  John C. Aud
Both over 21 years of age

[This book's author apparently added the "(Aud)" which is NOT in the original record; also, the original shows his surname as 'Davison'. (see transcript of original)]

[This is interpreted to mean that Mary is Mary (Aud) Avis, the widow of ? Avis because her bondsman would have most likely been a blood relative - brother or father.  Also, four years earlier, a Mary Avis was baptizing a son without the father present.  The conclusion is that Mary Aud married ? Avis who died leaving her a son and that she later married M. Davison]

Charlie, to be totally accurate, Vicki Roach (Roachbug@tsixroads.com) sent me
the following marriages in Old Tishomingo Co., Mississippi:

3/3/1900
Tennie Gilton married W. B. South

5/10/1857
J. Jilton married Lucinda Page

11/8/1898
Mattie Jilton married D. G. Lambert

She also sent me the following from the 1860 census of Old Tishomingo Co.,
Miss.
John Gilton age 26 M boatman born AL
Lucinda age 23 F born TN

I don't know for sure that Lucinda was born in McNairy Co. TN but it says she
was born in TN.  She would have been born in 1837.

Do  you know Shirley Courtney (RICHCOURT@aol.com)?  She is descended from
Grandma Garrett's older sister, Mary Etta (Mollie) Gilton.  Shirley and I are
working on this together.
