CHAP. IX.

An ACT to divorce the persons therein named.

Preamble.
      WHEREAS good cause hath been shown to this general assembly, why the persons hereafter named should be discharged from the bonds of matrimony :  Therefore,

Persons divorced.
       BE it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee, That the bonds of matrimony existing between John Sevier, junior, and his wife Susanna, formerly of Greene county ; Samuel Moore, and his wife Anne, of the same county ; Lewis Edwards and his wife Mary ; John Cunningham of Knox county, and his wife Elizabeth ; Mary Ann Gallaher, and her husband William Gallaher ; Elizabeth Williams, and her husband Nathaniel Williams ; William Cartwright, and his wife Polly, be, and they are hereby dissolved to all intents and purposes ; and that the aforesaid persons be restored to all the rights, privileges, and immunities which each enjoyed before their intermarriage.

    These are to Authorize you to Solemnize the Rites of Matrimony between John Gilton and Miss Amanda Fortune of your County, agreeably to an Act of Assembly in such cases made and provided.  Provided, always that the said Miss Amanda Fortune be an actual resident of this county; otherwise this shall be null and void, and shall not be accounted any license or authority for you or either of you, for the purpose aforesaid, more than if the same had never been prayed or granted.

    Know all Men by these Presents, That we, John Gilton and Thomas Hankins of the COUNTY OF MCNAIRY and STATE OF TENNESSEE, are held and firmly bound unto the STATE OF TENNESSEE, in the sum of TWELVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS, to which payment, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, and each and every one of us and them jointly and severally, firmly by these presents.  WITNESS our hands and seals this 13th day of March 1866

    The condition of the above Obligation is such, That Whereas, John Gilton has this day prayed and obtained a license to marry Miss Amanda Fortune.  Now if the said Miss Amanda Fortune be an actual resident of the county aforesaid, and there shall not hereafter appear any lawful cause why the said John Gilton and Miss Amanda Fortune should not be joined in holy matrimony as husband and wife, then this obligation to be void and of no effect; otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

Marriage Announced

Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Wiggins of Maypearl announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Jo Ann Wiggins, to Sgt. Charles R. Jordan, son of Mr. and Mrs. n. B. Jordan, 207 Ross Avenue.  The wedding took place in Rankin at the home of the officiating minister, the Rev. Wayne Sullivan, on September 13.  Attending the couple were Miss Billy Wesson of Boyce, and Buck Jordan, brother of the groom.  The bride is a graduate of Maypearl High School.  The groom attended Waxahachie High School, and was graduated from the Mechanics Training School in the Air Force in which he is now serving.  Following  a short wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Jordan will make their home in San Antonio.
