Will of Sam^l Hines

    The first day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three I Samuel Hynes of the Township of Hatfield in the County of Montgomery in the State of Pennsylvania Yeoman being of sound and disposing mind and memory blessed be God for the same do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament in manner following that is Principally and first I do Recommend my soul into the hand of God that gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian manner at the discretion of my Executrix and Executor herein named in hopes of a Glorious Resurrection by being enabled to believe in the infinite merits of our adorable Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and Touching such worldly Estate which God hath given me.  I do give and dispose of the same in the manner following
Imprimis my will is and I do order that all my Just debts and funeral Charges be paid and discharged.  Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth my beloved wife her chest of drawers bed and all the beding thereunto belonging her choice of six chairs a Table an Iron pot Tea Kettle and Tea pot and all her Tea ware also her choice of one of my Cows also my pewter and knives and forks - Item my will is and I do order that as soon as convenient after my decease all my Estate real and personal wherever the same may be, be sold by my Executrix and Executor to enable them to fulfill this my will excepting what I have bequeathed to my beloved wife and my will is that no legatee herein be mentioned and shall be permited to have any part of My estate at the Appraisement.  Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Elizabeth the sum of fifty Pounds Current Lawful Silver money of the State of Pennsylvania. Item my Daughter Mary Wife of William McCasin and my Daughter Elizabeth widow of Philip Wentz deceased being advanced by me at the time of their marriage I therefore bequeath them no Legacy only as Residuary Legatees.  Item I give and bequeath unto Daughter Margaret Hynes, Ann Hynes, Hannah Hines and Eleanor Hynes the sum of fifty pounds Current Lawfull Silver money of said State to each and to every one of them.  Item I give and bequeath unto my son Matthew Hynes the Sum of fifty Pounds Silver money as above said.  Item I give and bequeath unto unto my son Samuel Hynes the sum of fifty pounds Current Silver money as aforesaid. Also I give unto my said son Samuel Hynes my mare and colt.  Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife and unto my above mentioned six daughters and two sons all the Residue of my Estate after paying my Just debts and the legacies above mentioned to be equally divided among them.  Item I do nominate and Constitute my said beloved wife to be Executrix and my Friend John Todd of the Township of Newbritain Yeoman to be Executor of this my last Will and Testament and to hereby authorize them or the Survivor of them to make sale and conveyance of all my Land and Tenement wherever the same my be in as full and ample amanner as I might have done before my decease.  Item I do hereby revoke all and every former will by me made Confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and Year abovesaid

Personally came each of the witnesses to the foregoing will and being duly affirmed according to law did say that they were Personally present and did see Samuel Hines the Testator therein named sign and seal & heard him promise and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament and at the doing thereof he was of a perfect sound disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge that they subscribed their names thereto as witnesses in the presence of the Testator in his presesince at his request and in the presence of each other.  Be it remembered that on the16th day of August 1803 the foregoing will of Samuel Hines was proved in due form of law and letters Testamentary granted unto Elizabeth Hines and John Todd [?] therein named they having first sworn will and truly to perform the same and render an account according to law. Given under my hand & seal & registered the 16th day of August 1803.

George L. Pettit, a retired glass worker, died at approximately 11:30 a.m. Saturday at his home, 418 Woodlawn Ave.

He is survived by his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Hines of Elkins, W. Va.; and a sister and brother.  A daughter, Mrs. Richard Williams, is deceased.

The body was taken to the Bundy Funeral Home.

Know all men by these presents that we Patty Young Richd Nally & Thos Young are jointly and severally holden & firmly bound & obliged unto John Thomas JunrEsquire Ordinary of 96 District in the State aforesaid in the sum of two thousand pounds sterling to be paid unto the said John Thomas or his successors for the time being in the said office, or his Atto or assigns to which paymt will and truly to be made we bind ourselves and each of us jointly and severally firmly by these presents.  Sealed with our seals & dated the fifth day of August    A D 1784

Whereas Administration of all & singular the Goods and Chattels Rights & Credits which were of Nathaniel Young deceased were lately committed unto the said Patty Young by the said Ordinary.

A. P. MORAN, EDITOR OF THE DEMOCRAT, DEAD

POPULAR NEWSPAPERMAN AND MERCHANT SUCCUMBS TO PNEUMONIA

    After an illness of less than a week, Arthur Patrick Moran, editor of the Las Vegas Democrat, succumbed early this morning to pneumonia.  Death occurred in the Moran apartments in La Pension hotel.  Mr. Moran is survived by his wife and relatives in Houston, Tex.  The body, accompanied by Mrs. Moran, will be sent to that place tonight on Santa Fe train No. 2.  Burial will occur in Houston, probably on Friday of this week.
    Accompanied by his wife Mr. Moran came to Las Vegas early last spring.  He was impressed with the fine climate and saw possibilities of a good business opening.  Accordingly he purchased the curio, news and stationery business of Miss Minne M. Thompson.  Mr. Moran was a hustler.  In a short time he had built up a large business.  He increased his stock of curios and Indian goods and soon was filling orders for that class of merchandise all over the country.  Mrs. Moran was an able assistant.

MORAN. -- Pat A. Moran, aged 42, formerly advertising manager of the Houston Chronicle, died a few days ago in East Las Vegas, N. M., where he was proprietor of a curio and stationery store.  He went from Houston to New Mexico about a year ago.  Death was caused by an attack of pneumonia.  He is survived by his wife, two brothers and two sisters.  His sisters are Mrs. Hermann Buhse and Mrs. C. J. Ideck, both of Houston.  His brothers are J. E. Moran of Utah Southern Kansas Railroad, with headquarters in this city.  Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

M., will be brought to Houston for interment.  Funeral Services are to be conducted Saturday afternoon from 2312 Washington avenue.  Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery.  Mr. Moran was 41 years of age.  He went to New Mexico about a year ago because of failing health.

A. P. Moran.

    The funeral of A. P. Moran, aged 40 years, and formerly editor of the Las Vegas Democrat, was held Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the residence of Mrs. H. Bushe, his sister, 2313 Washington Avenue.  The funeral was private and interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery.  Father Banfield of the Catholic Church officiated.

    The body arrived in Houston at 9:19 Friday night, accompanied by Mrs. Moran, who was with her husband at the time of his death.  Besides his widow, Mr. Moran is survived by H. C. Moran of Houston, a brother; E. J. Moran of Utah, a brother; Mrs. F. J. Ibeck of Houston, a sister; Mrs. H. Bushe of Houston, a sister; Alfred Cassidy of Galveston, a nephew; Jack Cassidy of Houston, a nephew; Mrs. J. Thomas Hall, Nacogdoches, a sister-in-law; Mrs. J. C. Rudd of Temple, a sister-in-law.

    Mr. Morgan was born in Louisiana, but spent the greater part of his life in Houston.  He was formerly connected with The Post, the Chronicle and the Kansas City Journal, and was well known throughout Texas newspaper circles as a brilliant writer and a thoroughly grounded editor.

    Mr. Moran left Houston for Las Vegas, where he purchased a curio, a news and stationery business last spring and shortly after the purchase of this establishment he increased the business many per cent.

    Not many months ago Mr. Moran entered into partnership with E. J. Scott, and together they established the Las Vegas Democrat, a weekly publication,  The first few issues of this paper showed remarkable ability, and his friends say that if he had been spared his paper would have developed into one of the greatest weekly newspapers of the State.  His entire time was given over to the editing of the Democrat.

    Mr. Moran was a Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus.  Before the body was sent to Houston for burial services were conducted in the chapel of the Las Vegas Undertaking Company, Rev. Father Rabeyrolle officiating.  Members of the Knights of Columbus escorted the body to the train.

    Death was caused by an attack of pneumonia, and his illness was of less than a week's duration.
