STATE OF MISSISSIPPI - - - JEFFERSON COUNTY.

Know all Men by the Presents, THAT WE James Scott, Samuel L. Chambliss and Nathaniel Jeffries
are held and firmly bound unto John M. Whitney, Judge of Probate of said County, and his 
successors in Office, or their certain attorneys and assigns, in the sum of Three Thousand
Dollars, to which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, and each and every 
of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents.  Sealed 
with our Seals and dated this 25th day of November A. D. 1839.

The condition of the above Obligation is such, that if the above bound James Scott as Guardian 
to Samuel Alexander Ross of Jefferson County, shall faithfully account with the Court of Probate of 
said County as directed by the Law, for the management of the property and estate of the Orphan 
under his care, and shall also deliver up the said property agreeably to the order of said Court, or the 
direction of the Law; and shall in all respects perform the duty of Guardian to the said Samuel 
Alexander Ross. according to Law; -- Then the above obligation shall cease -- else to remain in 
full force and virtue in Law.
