I, John Chiles in the name of God amen do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form as follows first it is my will and desire that all my Lawful debts be paid then the remainder of my Estate give and bequeath as follows first I lend to my wife Elisabeth Chiles the land and plantation whereon I now live together with all my negroes Viz Dick Arthur Stephen Matt Dinah and (?) and all my stock of horses cattle sheep and hogs and also all my household furniture during her natural life after her her decease to be sold for the best price as my Executors shall think best and the money to be put to the use hereafter directed  I desire my land in Logan County and Warren County and after laying off three hundred acres of land to my sons Henry Chiles & David Chiles out of my land on the Dry Ridge the ballance of of the said tract to be sold with above land in Logan and Warren together with all Land my son Henery Chiles he being my attorney shall obtain in Clarke County he reserving to himself one third of what he shall gain for his trouble In attending to the law suite to be sold what he shall gain with the other land above mentioned and as I am desirous that all my children should have an Equal part of my estate I have heretofore given them part of my Estate some more than others it is my desire that they shall be made up Equal out of the first part sold — I shall mention what I have given I have given to my son John Chiles dec'd fifty pounds - I have given to my son Henry Chiles one hundred and fifty three Pound  -- I have given to my son David Chiles one hundred thirty five pounds I have given to my son James Chiles Ninety pounds also I have given to my son Garland Chiles one hundred and sixty Eight Pounds also I have given to my Daughter Ann Stone fifty two pounds also I have given to my Daughter Elizabeth Gates forty seven Pounds also to my Daughter Agga Lillard forty seven pounds, also I have given to my daughter Sally Downing, one hundred and ten pounds, also I have given to to Daughter Suanen Hightower dec'd ninety pounds, now it is further my desire that the money coming to my son John Chiles dec'd to make his part equal to be Divided Equally among all his Children, and the money that is coming to make Susanen Hightower dec'd Equal with the rest to be Equally divided among all her children to to-wit Sally Gates, Sophia Gates Lucinda Gates & Susana Hightower money coming to my Daughter Ann Stone to be equally divided among all her children at her death -- and it is further my desire that after my wife's decease that the part left her to be sold and the money arising therefrom to be equally divided among all my children and grand children as before mentioned, in my will after all my children is made up equal and as I have purchased a lot in Nicholasvil1e I hereby give in trust to my executors hereinafter mentioned to be rented out during the life of my Daughter Sally Downing and the proceeds arising from the rent to be paid to her by my executors and after her death my said Exors. or as many of them as shall be alive or either of that may qualify to this Will sell the lot of ground for the best price that can be gotten and and the monies arising from the sale to be equally divided between my said daughters children.  I do hereby appoint Richard Hightower Elijah Gates my exors and my wife Elizabeth my executor in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 4 day of January 1813 I hereby revoke all other Will and testament hereto made the first line stricken out was done by my direction and to the (?)
