Information on William Garrett from Ella Jane Wilson
(C. Avis Catalog entry #841)
Hi, Charlie. I was sleepy last night when I copied that information out of
the book, "In Their Footsteps". I know you are interested in sources. I
found something that Lana Digges sent me years ago that gives the same
information and tells the sources. William Garrett - War of 1812 record -- 27
June 1855 Susannah Garrett, Declaration of Widow for Bounty Lands (Hopkins
Co., TX.) -- 27 March 1879, Susannah Garrett, Claim of Widow for Service
Pension -- 26 April 1879, Susannah Garrett, Widow's Brief -- 08 Oct. 1906,
Martha Jane Meaders, Claim for Minor Children.
Lana Digges is descended from Charles D. Garrett's sister, Lucinda Garrett,
who married #1 Henry Bullard and #2 Riley Bullard (his brother). Riley was
the one Lucinda had the kids by.
This paper Lana sent me gives the whereabouts of William Garrett better than
the others. Residence: Since discharge (18 April 1813) Lauderdale Co.,
Alabama. Fayette Co., TN. 1826-1833, Gibson Co., Indiana 1833-1840, Hopkins
Co., TX. 1840-1852. We think he was living in Lauderdale Co., Alabama when
Presley Garrett was born in 1808.
