Roberson-Avis Wedding Solemnized

Miss Gladys Roberson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mart Roberson, and Jake Avis, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Avis, were quietly married at the home of the bride's parents Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the ceremony being read by the Rev. N. F. Grafton, pastor of the First Presbyterian church.

On account of the illness of Mr. Avis, only the relatives and a few intimate friends of the two families were present.

The house was beautifully decorated for the occassion with banks of palms, ferns, sweet peas and shasta daisies, and the bride was attractively gowned in a navy blue tailored suit.  She carried a shower bouquet of sweet peas and maiden hair fern.  Preceding the ceremony Mrs. Fred Weeks, sister of the groom, sang "O Promise Me."  The wedding march from Bohengrin was played by another sister, Miss Gretchen Avis.

Both young people are members of prominent and long time residents of Wichita Falls and are popular in social and business circles.

Mr. Avis is proprietor of the Gifte Shoppe, a business which he established here following the war, receiving his ideas for the business in France while serving in the army.

The bride has been connected with the alteration department at McClurkans for several years.

Mr. and Mrs. Avis will be at home at 1810 1/2 Tenth Street until the completion of their own residence which is under construction.
