George F. Stafford was private Co. D, 17th Miss. Infantry CSA, enlisted 3/16/1862 at Holly Springs, Miss., captured at Berryville, VA 9/3/1864 and was released at Camp Chase, Ohio 6/11/1865 on taking the oath of allegiance.

"Coolidge, Texas 2/18/1915

I inlisted in the Civil War in 1862 on the 14th day of April in Company D. 17th Miss Regiment was Captured in '64 Lay in Prison in Camp Chase Ohio 9 months was Paroled out of Prison on the 8th of June 1865. 

All the above I hereby swear to is being correct as best of my knowledge & belief.  I am now ninety years. 

Witness my hand this 18th day of Feb A D 1915"
