Funeral services for Dr. Jake Avis Jr., 38, Austin dentist, will be held Thursday at 11 a. m. at Weed-Corley Funeral Home. Dr. William Logan will officiate and burial will be in Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Leigh Ellis Jr., Dan Felts, Albert Gould, John Harrison Jr.. Kenneth Monton and Donald O'Brien.
Dr. Avis died Tuesday from a gunshot wound sustained at home at 1510 Rainbow Bend. A coroner's verdict is pending.
