"You say the Board was not pleased with Mr. Rudd's war record.  Well if they were not they could not be with yours or any other Southern Soldier, he was in the army from start to finish and was a brave soldier and the men in his Co. all thought well of him.  You are mistaken, he never was a prisenor never.  And never came home until everything was settled and he had to come.  Now where did you get the idea that Mr. Rudd was a prisenor.  I never knew that, he never knew it, and if he had been a prisenor, he was not compelled to enter the service again.  I know men right here that was prisoner that never went back in the service for they didn't come home til after the war was over.  ... going to put it in the hands of a lawyer ..."
